Abstract Food self-sufficiency is a relevant political issue in many countries, developed and developing, particularly to satisfy the internal nutritional needs of population face situations which prices basic products are unstable or when country faces an external shock. Improving resilience involves strengthening local rural communities meet demand with domestic production. The member countries Latin America Caribbean (LCN) produce enough food sustain their be one world's largest exporters. From theoretical discussion using data from FAO, research shows that there potential improve sovereignty define agricultural policies through complementarity among LCN countries.
